Week 1 Progress
Initial idea consisted of a meditation concept, where man isolates himself in a Cave to contemplate and purify his being. From the Cave we abstract an Architecture of a perfect Cube, as it is a geometry both in balance and stability. Through the cube the occupant obtains peace and enlightenment.
Much like the analogy of the cave, isolated within the mountains, the thick walls of the cube is a barrier to the outside world. The light from the skylight and clearstorey windows are our only source present-hence we have a space intented for contemplation and concentration.
Once meditation is complete, the occupant can journey up the steps to the roof above; here thet behold the spectable of the forest around them. In their pure and content state they are able to take in their surroundings in a more positive and appreciative light. Thereby obtaining a brighter outlook on life.
After talking with Anu about my views on the Painting and my narrative, above is what she suggested. The sketch above on the right bottom hand corner of the page depicts a structure comprosed of three rooms, each intended for the dematerialisation of Walls, Roof and Floor, the boundaries of human civilisation. This is symbolic of the Womans' choice to pursue a life of truth and light as opposed to the Material and Commercial. Situated near a watersource, the water wears away at the mountainside, as if nature too is cleansing itself from human influences.
